A carnivore is an organism, in most cases an animal, that eats meat. A carnivorous animal that hunts other animals is called a predator; an animal that is hunted is called prey.

Herbivores are mammals that eat mainly plants, such as fruits, seeds, foliage, grasses, roots, and bulbs and have special biological systems and teeth for digesting them.

Omnivores are animals that eat both plant and animal-derived food, including plants, animals, algae, and fungi. Human beings are omnivores.
